The Pros and Cons of the Apple Watch Ultra

The new Apple Watch Ultra is the latest sports watch on the market. It’s designed to be rugged and durable, ready for any activity. Developed to help you climb the highest mountains or keep you safe during a dive, the Apple Watch Ultra has you covered. The Apple Water Ultra can be changed whether you want to use it for the mountains, in the water or on the trail. With a night-time watch face, the red can be seen at night.

The Apple Watch used to be unable to compare with Garmin for sports enthusiasts. With its new features, it’s ready to rival the competition. The main purpose of this article is to discuss the pros and cons of the Apple Watch Ultra as a dive computer.

The physical design of the watch is 49 mm titanium band and can go to 100 meters depth. In the dive mode, for freedivers and scuba divers, the watch can record depths up to 40 meters. The Oceanic+ App turns your Apple Watch into a dive computer.

With a decent battery life, you’ll be able to do consecutive dives on the same battery. The downsides to the Apple Watch Ultra is that it can only be used for diving to depths of 40 meters and shallower. This would therefore not be a suitable computer for technical divers.

With its newfound water resistance and depth sensor, the Apple Watch Ultra is potentially a good find for recreational divers. People who tend to dive on holiday or several times a year will use the watch’s other features. The price point is cheaper than some other dive computers and the Garmin dive computers.

The Apple Watch Ultra can last for 36 hours in normal mode and up to 60 in low-power mode. The Ocean Band is great for divers, it’s flexible and has an attachable band that will fit over a wetsuit or drysuit.

With a built in compass that you can mark points of interest, the Apple Watch can direct you back to a point. Underwater you can set the compass making it easier to conduct two-way dives where you finish at your entry point. The Oceanic+ app gives insight into different sea conditions like tides and water temperature. You can give feedback after a dive as to the visibility and currents so you can check different sites for their usuals. Your watch can be used to plan dives and check surface intervals between dives.

The data from your dive can be uploaded to your phone, this includes bottom times, depth, entry and exit points, and more. The app on your phone can be used as a logbook with accurate information about your past dives. The dives can be shared with friends within a couple of clicks. You can search through past dives based on different criteria like location.

In conclusion, the Apple Watch Ultra may be great for people who dive at times throughout the year. In contrast, the Apple Watch Ultra may not be the ideal watch for dive professionals or tech divers. The best part of this new watch is that it can be used daily for all types of outdoor activities.

It’s extremely durable and has a large display that can be viewed at night. The battery life does tend to be on the short side and you may find yourself charging it nearly daily depending on your activities. With three bands to choose from including the Oceanic Band, the Alpine Loop and the Trail Loop. It’s important to note that the Oceanic+ app has not been released yet and will be at an extra cost.

Protect the oceans. Save the world.
